Charity History

Welcome to the Charity History Page!

Here you will find information about past years' charity giving and charity involvement for the Charlotte Oktoberfest beer festival.

How We Choose:

Our Festival is run annually by all volunteers, the Oktoberfest Management Team, over a roughly 10 month period. All of whom are from the Carolina BrewMasters' membership, and change yearly. In an effort to keep the Carolina BrewMasters' (CBM) membership fully involved, there is a smaller committee of volunteers each year who poll CBM membership for their favorite charities. The Charity Committee [who remains anonymous] then takes all recommendations and settles in for a grueling charity selection process. This process takes weeks of dedicated time and research from each of the volunteers. Each charity is scrutinized against various criteria and the final few charities then undergo in-person interviews. This is in an effort to ensure not only the best charities are selected each year to receive donations, but also to that the monies donated are able to have a noted impact in the local community. Further, as the CBM members comprise the majority of the Festival volunteers, this allows membership to have a longer-reaching impact on local charities that they support. We do not accept charity applications or non-member recommendations because of this. We appreciate all of our local charities, but with so many great causes to choose from - the selection of WHO we support each year is a very in-depth and arduous process.
